This was an old abandoned convent situated on the rolling hills overlooking the ancient town of Lucca.
The convent is situated in the midst of olive groves and vineyards with a spectacular view of the towers of Lucca in the valley below.
The brief was to restore the convent and transform the main four storey building into five apartments . The stalla adjacent to the main building was to be converted into two town houses.
The building was lovingly restored retaining the wonderful stone work and restoring the typical Tuscan arched double windows with their carrara marble columns on the first floor.
The interior is a delightful mix of the original timber beams and ceilings with parts of the exposed stone structure contrasting with a light modern interior, creating a modern and comfortable living environment.
Each apartment has its own private terrace which have been integrated into the landscape to create serene private spaces to enjoy the spectacular views.
Two swimming pools and a communal bar- b- que terrace have been designed to sit naturally into the olive groves and ancient terraces.
