Royal Portrush is hailed as one of the top 4 links golf courses in the world and is the only Irish golf course to have held the British Open, which returns to the course in 2019.
The RPGC Committee chose Kieran to present a scheme for the part demolition and rebuilding of a new clubhouse, whilst still respecting the long history and tradition of this famous and ancient club.
The final design was based on the Arts and Crafts Movement and club members and visitors alike now enjoy a spacious and elegant facility, totally in keeping with a club of this stature.
The new clubhouse now boasts a large committee room and a spacious yet elegant dining room, with full kitchen facilities. Timber paneling, incorporating coloured mosaic tiles reminiscent of Charles Rennie Macintosh, adorn the interiors. There is a members bar and snug, plus a large, open guest bar. Views of the world famous links can be appreciated from the two balconies that open out on to the course.
On the ground floor of the clubhouse, members and guests can revel in the newly designed, spacious and luxurious changing facilities. To complete the renovations an entrance foyer with bespoke cabinets enables the club to exhibit trophies, regalia and historical items to their very best advantage.
